Meet the Doctor

When Dr. Dawn Hornberger, Optometrist and Low Vision Specialist, graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia, PA, few women were doctors, and even fewer women doctors owned their practice. She obtained her Doctor of Optometry and Masters in Vision Rehabilitation/Low Vision in 1989.

By 1993, when she purchased the Birdsboro practice from Dr. Bruce May, she knew she wanted to build an eye care business that put the patient’s needs first. She had worked for Eye Consultants of Pennsylvania, as well as other practices in the area, as an Optometrist and Low Vision Specialist since 1989. But she had ambitions to work for herself. The success of the Birdsboro practice allowed her to open the Wernersville practice in 1998.

Dr. Hornberger has remained an active part of the Berks County vision community, and her passion for her neighbors has compelled her to serve as a Board Member of the Vision Resource Center of Berks County. She was named Young Optometrist of the Year for both Berks County AND Pennsylvania in 1998, and she was voted Optometrist of the Year for Berks County in 2014.

Her practice is committed to high-quality vision care, and she remains one of the few optometrists in the area still in private practice. You are in good hands with Dr. Hornberger, since she takes the time to know you and listen to you when it comes to your eye care.

Dr. Hornberger has two adult daughters and enjoys walking their dogs and bicycling with her husband, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and church activities.
